Pharmaceutical Consultancy and FDA Advertising Regulations

by Admin

In 2009 the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) increased the number of warning letters it sent to drug manufacturers concerning their advertising practices. The number of warnings given out was double what it had been in 2008. The main complaint that the FDA has in the majority of its warning letters is misleading claims and over-stated benefits of some drugs which simply are not true. Three manufacturers have been sent warning letters over their promotional content in the past month. Sanofi Aventis, Eli Lilly and Meda have all been asked to remove or change their promotional material for different drugs that they make. Do You Think You Know All About The Kinds Of Exercises To Heal Sciatica?

by Admin

The kind of exercises to do in case of sciatica depends on the underlying causes of the sciatica symptoms. This might sound counter-intuitive but bed rest does not provide similar kinds of benefits as compared to exercises in the long run. Proper conditioning of the back muscles and spinal structure needs to be done for the effective health of the spinal discs.

Before the initiation of a workout program, it recommended that the patient should consult a medical doctor or a certified professional who has specialization in spine health. The workout program should include exercises which focus on building of the core muscle strength. A regular routine of stretching of the hamstrings which are located in the back of the thigh lowers the stress on the lower back. Aerobic exercises such as cycling and brisk walking up to three miles in a day on a treadmill are good in terms of general body fitness. However, their impact towards treatment of sciatica problems is relatively low.

Smoking an Insecticide

As all smokers know, quitting is extremely hard and nicotine, the addictive agent present in tobacco, keeps smokers coming back for more. The tobacco companies would like you to think otherwise, but don’t be fooled, regardless of what they may say in congressional hearings. Tobacco companies are well aware that cigarettes are nicotine delivery systems and cigarettes are purposely designed for efficient nicotine release. Smokers are addicts and will continue to smoke to ensure that their preferred nicotine levels are maintained. Nicotine is the tobacco plants way of protecting itself from insect predation; it is in fact an insecticide and is very poisonous indeed. Unfortunately for humans nicotine has a very similar chemical structure to the molecule, acetylcholine. This chemical is an important neurotransmitter and has profound effects on our pleasure and reward pathways.
